Chinese Lab Tests First Mobile WiMAX Forum-Certified Products
Agilent Technologies has announced that the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR), a division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and a WiMAX Forum(r) Designated Certification Laboratory (WFDCL), has successfully used its N6430A Series Mobile WiMAX Protocol Conformance Test system to complete the first test of Mobile WiMAX products in mainland China. TD-LTE Receiver Measurements Drive Test System Launched
Agilent Technologies has announced TD- LTE Receiver Measurements as a software upgrade to its E6474A Drive Test Network Optimization Platform. Network equipment manufacturers and wireless service providers can use the software on Agilent W1314A receivers to quickly verify base-station RF coverage, plot accurate coverage maps and validate planning in the early development of LTE networks. This new option builds on the existing FDD-LTE measurements in the Agilent solution to provide both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE measurements on a single measurement platform. more
Agilent Introduces One-Box-Tester for 1xEV-DO eHRPD Protocol Stack
Agilent Technologies has announced support for 1xEV-DO enhanced high-rate packet data (eHRPD) in its test sets running the E6706C lab application software. Cellphones Acting as a Mesh Network
An interesting patent has been filed by Agilent Technologies which would enable a cellphone to act in a manner not dissimilar to a wireless Mesh Network. The patent in essence allows a handset to communicate with a base station which is out of range, by hopping via another cellphone (or phones) which then transfer the calls between the station and the handset. The patent application notes that it is designed to be a method for increasing coverage areas to allow for temporary networks in case of emergencies. more
