Millicom Sells Tower Assets in Democratic Republic of the Congo

­Millicom International has sold 729 towers belonging to its subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Tigo DRC) to Helios Towers. Tanzanian mobile network, Tigo has agreed to sell approximately 1,020 towers to Helios Towers Tanzania (HTT), a direct subsidiary of Helios Towers africa. Mobile data revenues in the Middle East will amount to more than US$10 billion a year by 2015

The number of mobile subscriptions in the Middle East crossed the 200 million mark in 3Q10 to reach 202 million at end-September, according to research by Informa Telecoms & Media. Driven by growth in the less-developed markets like Iran and Iraq, the region's mobile market is still growing strongly, with the number of mobile subscriptions in the region increasing by almost 20% over the year to end-September.  more

Telkom SA to Sell Nigerian CDMA Network Subsidiary

Telkom South africa has confirmed that it plans to sell its Nigerian CDMA network subsidiary, Multi-Links. Telkom SA brought a 75% stake in the Nigerian mobile network operator in 2007 for US$280 million, and took full ownership in 200 for US$130 million.  more
