3G operator orders billing software

Italy's 3G license holder, H3G have signed a multi-year contract for the delivery of MIND CTI's billing solution for 3G mobile services in Italy. The MIND-iPhonEX solution for H3G is an integral part of the SES -- Services Enabler System -- one of the critical components within the H3G network. MIND-iPhonEX enables diverse content services for prepaid and post-paid subscribers and provides real-time aaa (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting). In particular, for prepaid subscribers the risk of balance overrun is eliminated, even when the services are used simultaneously. more

Billing software tested for its capacity limit

The billing solutions group, MIND CTI has announced the results of tests it has run on its PrePay software when run on Sun servers. The benchmark demonstrates the capability to handle 25 million aaa (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) events per hour using an active prepaid subscriber base of 30 million. more

Software upgrade for CDMA service node to high speed data

CommWorks has said that its Total Control 1000 Packet Data Service Node (PDSN) can now be upgraded to CDMA 1xEV-DO (1x Evolution-Data Optimized) with a simple software upgrade. No new hardware is required. The Total Control 1000 PDSN exchanges packets with the mobile station over the radio network, and with Internet Protocol (IP) networks. To perform these functions, the Total Control 1000 PDSN interfaces with the radio network node, also called a packet control function (PCF); with a RADIUS aaa server (used for user authentication and session accounting); and with home agents for Mobile IP applications. more

AAA says cell phones not really responsible for car accidents

A report by the American Automobile Association has shown that car crashes in the USA are more likely to be caused by drivers changing a CD or eating than by their using a cell phone. The study was conducted for the aaa by the of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center, analyzed 5,000 accidents between 1995 and 1999 and said that just 1.5% of accidents were blamed on cell phone used. It was pointed out that drivers using their cell phone when an accident occurred were unlikely to admit that they had caused the accident." more
