Trinidad and Tobago to Award a 3rd Mobile Phone License
The telecoms regulator in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago has announced plans to award a 3rd mobile license in the country. The regulator says that the license will be for radio spectrum in both the 800mhz and 1900Mhz bands, which leaves the market open to both GSM and CDMA operators. more

Trinidad Cancels Laqtel's Mobile License Over Upaid Fines
The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has terminated the mobile phone license which had been held by Laqtel. The company was granted a license for blocks of spectrum in the 800mhz and 1900MHz bands at the end of 2005, but has had problems raising funds to pay for the license and roll out its network. more

Five bid for cellular licenses
Trinidad and Tobago's telecoms regulator (TATT) has stated that it has received five bids for the island nations new mobile phone licenses. The five bidders include the USA's Cingular Wireless and NatTel, Jamaica's Digicel and local firms, Telkom Caribe and Laqtel. more
