Enhancements quadruple the voice capacity of existing CDMA2000 1X networks

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) has announced that the specifications for CDMA2000 1X Advanced have been completed and published by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3gpp2). ­The 1X Advanced standard allows 3G CDMA operators to significantly increase the voice capacity of their CDMA2000 1X network by taking advantage of several interference cancellation and radio link enhancements. Among these improvements are base transceiver station (BTS) interference cancellation, improved power control, early frame termination, and smart blanking.  more

Agilent Introduces One-Box-Tester for 1xEV-DO eHRPD Protocol Stack

Agilent Technologies has announced support for 1xEV-DO enhanced high-rate packet data (eHRPD) in its test sets running the E6706C lab application software. Traffix Provides Support for IMS Diameter Protocol Interfaces

Testing 3G Video Streaming Standards

The International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium's Packet-switched Streaming Services Activity Group (PSS-AG) staged a live face-to-face interoperability test event in June, kicking off its latest cycle of interoperability testing of 3GPP and 3gpp2 mobile phone streaming standards. The PSS-AG is focused on testing the interoperability of features from the latest 3G multimedia streaming specifications, including streaming bit-rate adaptation, multi-track signaling, and progressive download of the latest codecs including H.264 Video and Enhanced aacPlus Audio. more

Verizon Wireless Orders Nortel CDMA Kit

Nortel has been selected to supply Verizon Wireless with CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision (Rev.) A technology beginning in the third quarter of 2006. Verizon Wireless is currently trialing new, low-latency applications with Nortel EV-DO Rev. A technology, including push-to-talk, fixed mobile convergence, VoIP and messaging services. Nortel was the primary infrastructure supplier in San Diego for Verizon Wireless' initial commercial deployment of BroadbandAccess, which leverages EV-DO Revision 0 technology, in October 2003. more
