Top-five handset OEM signs first Coolteq deal

Nortel Completes LTE-TDD Wireless Demo in China

Nortel says that it has successfully completed the first end-to-end video streaming session using a Time Division Duplex (TDD)-based LTE network, working with commercial grade LTE Base Station and device prototypes in China. This is an important milestone in the development of next generation wireless services for TD-SCDMA mobile network deployments in China, as well as advancing the deployment of LTE for service providers using TDD spectrum.  more

Femtocell Group Signs Up 100th Member

The Femto Forum, the independent industry and operator association that supports femtocell deployment, has announced that is has reached 100 members. Study Finds Interference Between Femtocells and Maco Network Not a Problem

Femtocell trade group, The Femto Forum has published the results of a study which studied problems with network interference caused by the close proximity of femtocells and macrocells. The study found that femtocells have the potential to deliver an order of magnitude more capacity than the macro network alone when used in dense deployments, even when occupying the same radio channel as the macrocells. It also identified numerous technological solutions that mitigate potential interference with the macro network to remove barriers to wide-scale deployment and maximize the capacity benefits.  more
