Mobile Handset Market Stays Afloat with 258 Million Shipped in 1Q-2009
Despite tough corporate and unemployment news making the headlines, the mobile handset-buying public did not head to the hills during the first quarter of 2009. Handset vendors had shipped 258 million handsets by the end of the quarter. Although that represents an 11% year-over-year decline, the result significantly exceeded the previous forecast of 253.5 million. Fitch Downgrades Deutsche Telekom on Guidance Revision, Weak Operating Results
Fitch Ratings has downgraded Deutsche Telekom's (DT) Long-term Issuer Default rating (IDR) to 'BBB+' from 'A-' (A minus) and assigned a Stable Outlook. This follows DT's downward guidance revision for 2009 as operating pressures continue apace in key markets. more

Deutsche Telekom Issues Profits Warning - May Write Down T-Mobile Value
Deutsche Telekom has issued a profits warning, and now expects adjusted EBITDA in 2009 to be 2 to 4 percent below last year. The company is now expecting to post EBITDA in the range of EUR18.7 billion - EUR19.1 billionn (US$24.7 billionn) after an initial forecast of EUR19.5 billion. more

Mobile Music Revenues to Reach $14.6bn by 2013 Despite Fall in Ringtone Sales
