India's MTNL Cancels 3G Outsourcing Deal
India's state-owned MTNL has dropped plans to hand over the management of its 3g network in Mumbai and Delhi to Virgin Mobile and Spice Group. Local media reported mixed reasons for canceling the outsourcing deal - ranging from government pressure to internal politics at the company. more

Will 3G Launch Revitalise India's MTNL
MTNL recorded its best ever third-quarter figure for net additions in the three months ending 31s t December 2008, Q3 of its 2008/9 financial year. The gain of 229k took its total customer base over the 4m mark to 4.07m at the end of the quarter. MTNL is one of the smaller operators in India, the world's second largest mobile market by customer numbers, and it had an end- quarter national market share of just 1.2%. more
