Chinese 3G Subscribers' ARPU Triple that of GSM

According to ABI Research's latest release of its "Mobile Subscriber Market Data" series of databases, the mobile industry concluded 2010 with 5.5 billion subscriptions. Overall telecom CAPEX to rise in 2011 due to video, 3G, LTE investments

­From its peak in 2008, worldwide service provider capex declined 5.3% in 2009, and is on track to decline another 3% in 2010, reports Infonetics Research. The dip in capex in 2010 is reportedly due mainly to the fact that carriers in China, which invested heavily in network upgrades in 2009, have completed their 3g rollouts.  more

BSNL and MTNL Release 3G Subscriber Numbers

3GPP Mobile Broadband Subscriptions Now Exceed 100 Million in Western Hemisphere

4G Americas - a wireless industry trade association - has announced that more than 100 million mobile broadband customers in the Americas region are using 3gPP technology. With an annualized growth rate of 77 percent for the Western Hemisphere, including 158 percent annual growth in Latin America and 55 percent in the U.S. and Canada, the regional growth for 3gPP mobile broadband far exceeds the 40 percent growth of 3gPP mobile broadband worldwide at the 12 months ending September 2010 (subscriber data according to Informa Telecoms & Media WCIS).  more

CAT Telecom Approves 3G Plans by Two Private Networks

Thailand's state-owned CAT Telecom says that it has agreed - in principle - the plans by two other mobile networks to use their existing networks to offer 3g services. The two networks, TAC and True Move plan to offer 3g services in the 850Mhz band following the collapse of the country's planned 3g license auction in September.  more

Vodafone Czech Republic Expands 3G Network to 3rd City
