Qiao Xing Mobile to Boost 3G Phone Development Staff

China's Qiao Xing Mobile says that it plans to accelerate its 3G mobile phone R&D by adding 200 engineers to its existing R&D team in Beijing in 2009. The new personnel will spearhead the Company's research, design, development and commercialization of 3G handsets, with a focus on TD-SCDMA and WCDMA products.  more

Nokia Launches its First 3G Phone in South Korea

Broadcom Claims "One Year Lead" Over Competitors with new 3G Chipset

Broadcom has announced the launch of a new single-chip HSPA processor that integrates all of the key 3G cellular and mobile technologies on an extremely low power, single 65 nanometer chip which the company says will enable handset vendors to considerably lower 3G phone costs. Broadcom said that never before has anyone integrated as many radio devices on a single chip.  more

Nokia Warns that Qualcomm Dispute Harms WCDMA Sales

Nokia has warned that its ongoing patent dispute with Qualcomm could be holding up the adoption of WCDMA devices and services. Speaking at a news conference in South Korea, Chief Technology Officer Tero Ojanpera warned that the dispute was leaving a door open for rival technologies such as WiMAX. more
