Nokia Siemens Networks Wins 3G Network Contract in Albania

Vodafone to Spend $500 Million on Indian 3G Rollout

India's Vodafone Essar is reported to be planning to spend up to US$500 million over the next two years on its 3G network rollout. The company anticipates the launch of its first 3G services in India early next year, Mr Marten Pieters, Managing Director, told reporters.  more

Tata DoCoMo to Launch its 3G Network Next Month

India's Tata DoCoMo has announced plans to launch its 3G network on November 5th - known locally as Diwali Day - making it the first private network to launch a WCDMA based network in the country. The two state-owned networks, MTNL and BSNL were given an early start by the government and launched their networks before the 3G licenses were sold to the private operators.  more

Vodafone Offers National Roaming onto CDMA Network

Vodafone Czech Republic has inked a national roaming agreement with the CDMA network, MobilKom to enable its 3G data users to roam between the two networks. Vodafone is offering a dual-mode USB modem for laptops that will switch between WCDMA and CDMA networks are required.  more

China Unicom to Spend $10.4 Billion on 3G Network in 2011

China Unicom is reported to be planning to spend RMB 70 billion (US$10.4 billion) expanding its 3G network during 2011. The company spend at least RMB 110 billion (US$16.3 billion) in 2009 launching its 3G network. Although the expenditure for 2010 isn't known yet, the amount spent in 2009 already exceeded projections announced in 2008.  more
