China Mobile Full-Year Profits Up 30 Percent

China Mobile has reported an 29.6 percent rise in its full-year earnings to reach RMB 112.8 billion (US$16.53 billion), but warned that profits growth slowed in the final quarter as competition intensified and the economic slowdown took its toll. China Unicom Starts 3G Trial

China Unicom is reported to have started a trial WCDMA based network in Baoding City in northern China's Hebei Province. Industry sources told the Interfax news agency that the trials have already commenced.  more

China Mobile Planning Nationwide Expansion of 3G Trial Network

China Mobile's parent company, China Mobile Communications Corp (CMCC) has reportedly been given to expand its trial 3G network to a nationwide basis. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has "approved a plan by CMCC to expand its current TD-SCDMA commercial trial network (in select cities) to a nationwide basis", a ministry spokesman told China Daily.  more

China Mobile Expanding its 3G Trial to More Cities
