Thailand's TOT to Proceed with 3G Rollout Plans

­Thai mobile network operator, TOT is to push ahead with its plans for a 3G network, despite recent reports that it would delay its plans pending the final 3G license tender. Thailand's Information and Communications Technology Minister, Ranongruk Suwanchawee said that his ministry had the final say over plans by the state-owned telecoms operator in this area.  more

Single Bidder for France's Fourth 3G License

India's 3G License Auction to Take Place in January - Maybe

­India's Department of Telecoms (DoT) has announced the latest dates for the country's oft-delayed 3G license auctions. The auction, which had been expected to take place in December, will now start on 14th January 2010. A practice run will take place a couple of days prior to the live auction.  more

French Operators File Complaints Against 3G License Auction

­Two of France's three mobile network operators have filed formal complaints against the regulator's upcoming 3G license auction. Both Vivendi and Bouygues Telecom have filed complaints with France's highest administrative court, the Conseil d'Etat over the reserve price being set for the license.  more

Delays to Thailand's 3G License Auction Could Damage Investor Confidence

­Thailand's DTAC has warned that any further delays to the country's 3G license auction could deter foreign investment and undermine the credibility of government policy. DTAC's CEO, Tore Johnsen, added though that he expects any delays to be just a few weeks.  more

Thailand Proposes $100-$200 Million Reserve for 3G Licenses

­Thailand's telecoms regulator has proposed a minimum reserve price of between US$100-200 million for the upcoming 3G license auction. The proposals for the auction will be put to the board of the regulator, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) later this week for approval.  more

India Confirms Delay in 3G License Auction

­India's Telecom minister A Raja has confirmed that the country will miss the Dec 7th deadline for holding its 3G licenses. The delay, which has been put down to issues with the Defense Ministry releasing details of the radio spectrum it will be releasing for the 3G operators, is just the latest out of many set-backs for the licensing process.  more
