UK Telecoms Operators Slam Ofcom Mobile Termination Plans

Italian GSM network to be asset stripped

The Italian GSM network, Blu has decided to split itself up and sell its assets to four of its competitors, having failed to find a buyer who wanted to keep the company intact. Blu says that it has submitted details of the plan to Italy's Communications Ministry and it would be conditional on approval from both the Italian and European regulators. more

TIM may buy Italian network

Italian media has reported over the weekend that Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) is close to buying the Blu GSM network. Blu's leading shareholders, motorway operator Autostrade and BT , put the group up for sale more than a year ago after it controversially withdrew from Italy's 3G auction. The company is also still loss making and urgently needs a cash injection to keep operating. more
