3G Americas Recommends Plan to Maximize Broadband Spectrum
Trade body, 3G Americas has published key recommendations for utilizing non-standard spectrum bands in a white paper that discusses the emerging challenges for spectrum stakeholders involving how to permit wider spectrum usage by operators using various broadband technologies and current spectrum allocations. These challenges are especially poignant in "fragmented" spectrum bands (which depart from globally or regionally harmonized bands), such as the AWS III band in the U.S., and in the potential for country specific allocations of the 2.6 GHz IMT band and "Digital Dividend" spectrum outside of the U.S. more
GSM network capacity increased by 70%
The 3G Americas trade body says that GSM continues to evolve as one of the most advanced mobile technologies in the world incorporating sophisticated technical enhancements such as Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC), an exciting new capability for improved mobile station performance of GSM networks. 3G Americas has published a white paper titled SAIC and Synchronized Networks for Increased GSM Capacity that shows SAIC simulation and field trial results providing capacity gains of 40-70% in synchronous networks. Additionally, the results showed that even asynchronous systems can achieve substantial capacity gains using SAIC technology. more
