72% Share of Market for GSM Technologies in Western Hemisphere
Wireless industry trade association, 3G Americas has announced that GSM-HSPA has captured 72% of the entire cellular market in the Western Hemisphere. With nearly 555 million subscriptions in the Americas at the end of the first quarter of 2009, GSM achieved an annual growth of 25%, adding 110 million new connections in 12 months. more

Over One Million New GSM Subscriptions a Day Worldwide
3G Americas, a wireless industry trade association is reporting that in the year ending June 30, 2008, GSM/HSPA networks added over 115 million subscriptions in the Americas region with a market share of 67%. According to industry research firm, Informa Telecoms & Media, global GSM/HSPA wireless subscriptions as of June 30, 2008 totaled 3.2 billion adding more than a million new subscriptions for the GSM family of technologies per day worldwide. more

GSM Family Subscriptions Reach 3 Billion Worldwide
The trade body, 3G Americas has announced that the world now has 3 billion mobile phone users based on the GSM family (inc UMTS), based upon research and projections by Informa Telecoms and Media. Today, 88% of the world's 3.5 billion mobile wireless subscriptions are to the GSM family of technologies. more
