The CDMA Development Group (CDG) says that increased uptake of CDMA2000 in the 450 MHz frequency band, also known as CDMA450, is placing an increased demand for new multi-mode and multi-band devices. CDMA450 Spreads - Over 100 Live or Planned Networks
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) and International 450 Association (IA450) have jointly announced that there are 103 operators in 60 countries that have deployed or are planning to deploy CDMA450 services; 67 operators in 36 countries are already offering commercial services to more than 12 million people across the world, and 36 networks are being trialed or deployed in 24 more countries. more

Lucent Wins Vietnamese CDMA Contract
Lucent Technologies has announced that Vietnam's EVNTelecom (formerly known as Vietnam Power Telecom) has selected Lucent for its phase III CDMA450 network expansion project. The two companies have already deployed a wireless network to provide voice and mobile data services based on CDMA450 technology - Lucent's CDMA2000 solution for the 450 MHz spectrum band - in the northern provinces of Vietnam. more
Russia's Sky Link says that it is increasing the voice capacity of the Sky Link network in Krasnodar and enhancing it with CDMA2000 1xev-do technology. Krasnodar Cellular Network, the regional Sky Link operator, and Lucent are upgrading existing Lucent base stations with CDMA2000 1xev-do technology and installing new equipment that will enable the operator's Sky Turbo service, which provides data speeds of up to 2.4 Megabits per second. The project is beginning in the cities of Krasnodar, Sochi, and Novorossisk. more

CDMA Spend Tops US$ Billion in Two Months
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) says that within the past two months, worldwide operator investments in CDMA2000 networks, that have been publicized, approached US$1 billion. The CDG also reported that according to several analysts, by the end of 2006 operators worldwide will have invested up to US$13 billion in CDMA2000 networks. more

The CDMA Development Group (CDG)has announced that the number of CDMA2000 operators reached 143 at the end of the last year, and the technology is now deployed in 67 countries across 6 continents. Furthermore, the number of 1xev-do networks nearly doubled from 16 to 29 in 2005. CDMA2000 momentum will continue in 2006, with 30 new operators scheduled to deploy commercial networks (compared to 20 last year) and 21 additional trials underway. The number of 1xev-do networks will reach 70 in the coming months, and 1xev-do Rev A will enter the commercial phase. more

CDG Sets Up Group To Speed CDMA Handset Development
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) has announced that CDMA2000 operators and handset manufacturers have formed working groups to aggregate their requirements for different tiers of devices based on the documents developed by the CDG's Global Handset Requirements for CDMA Team (GHRC). The individual working groups focus on ultra-low tier handsets, mid-tier data devices (including 1xev-do data card, 1X and 1xev-do WorldMode interstandard devices) and CDMA450. more

Qualcomm has announced an agreement with Nordisk Mobiltelefon, a CDMA2000 1xev-do wireless service operator focusing on the rural Nordic market for voice and data services, to deploy BREW products and services over its CDMA450 network in Sweden and Norway. The rollout of BREW wireless applications in both countries will enable NMT subscribers to download mobile content, in various application categories that target both enterprise and consumer users. more
