Chinese operator Jiangxi MCC has concluded an agreement with Nokia for the expansion of its GSM network. The deal, valued at over US$65 million, covers a full range of Nokia network equipment to meet expected increases in demand for mobile voice capacity and improved SMS text messaging service.
Under the agreement, Nokia will supply its core and radio-access network infrastructure, a Nokia Short Message Service Center, the Nokia NetAct network and service management system. Also included are implementation, radio network planning and optimization, and care services including software maintenance.
Deliveries have already begun with the aim of bringing the new capacity into use as soon as possible.
"After eight years of close co-operation with Jiangxi MCC, we feel our relationship is stronger than ever," says David Ho, Senior Vice President, Nokia Networks, China. "We are pleased to continue as the main supplier to Jiangxi MCC as it expands and enhances its network, and we look forward to satisfying its needs in the future."
Jiangxi MCC is a subsidiary of China Mobile."
