Cincinnati Bell Wireless has selected Ericsson to migrate its existing TDMA wireless network to GSM/GPRS and eventually EDGE, expanding network capacity and setting forth a plan of progression for the carrier to deliver advanced mobile voice and data services. Additionally, Ericsson will provide professional services for network support and systems integration, and training for operating the access network.
Under the five-year agreement, Ericsson will immediately begin installing EDGE-ready 1900MHz GSM/GPRS radio access equipment from its High Capacity Solution portfolio to complement Cincinnati Bell's existing TDMA networks in Ohio and Kentucky. The cost-effective infrastructure will allow Cincinnati Bell to expand its network -- without adding sites or new frequencies -- as its business needs evolve.
