Caribbean Network to Swap its Entire SIM Base

AT&T Wireless which took over the Bermuda Telecom GSM network last November has announce that all its subscribers must change their SIM cards by the end of next month if they want to continue using the network. Customers are being asked to visit the AT&T Wireless store before September 1st to collect their replacement SIM card.

The Bermudan network says that now it is part of AT&T Wireless, its existing infrastructure is being replaced to meet the standard for the Caribbean and Atlantic region. This upgrade will enhance the existing features in Bermuda and allow it to offer additional services.

The company is not doing a staged rollout, the entire SIM base will be switched on the 1st September, so people who collect their new SIM's cannot use them until that date either. As an incentive to switch, customers can enter a prize draw to win one of three US$1,000 travel vouchers."
