Portal Software has announced that Colombia Movil has chosen it's Infranet application to quickly launch the company's new GSM/GPRS business. Easy integration into other OSS/BSS and enterprise applications was an important criterion for the selection of Colombia Movil's billing system. Portal's proven, pre-integrated CRM and billing solution, TelcoOne, made Portal the most complete solution set for Colombia Movil.
Colombia Movil expects to grow to one million subscribers within the next two years and expand its services in convergent prepaid and postpaid models. "Portal is a strategic ally in helping us get to market quickly with superior services that surpass incumbent competition," said Mauricio Mesa, CEO, Colombia Movil. "They offered us a clean and fast integration with our front and back office systems, low total cost of ownership, and minimized risks."

Mobile operators in Colombia ended the first quarter of this year with a total of 4.88 million subscribers, which increased their subscriber base from last year by 38%, according to figures published by the Colombian Communications Ministry."
