Shops Start Taking Pre-orders for N-Gage Phone

In preparation for the launch of Nokia's N-Gage mobile game deck, major games retailers in the USA, GameStop and Electronics Boutique have begun taking pre-orders for the game deck in advance of its availability to the public. N-Gage will officially go on sale around the world on October 7, 2003 for US$299. "The consumer interest and excitement for N-Gage is growing daily," said Nada Usina, General Manager of Entertainment of Media, Nokia Mobile Phones Americas. "True gaming trendsetters can place their pre-orders now to be one of the first to own N-Gage."

To order N-Gage and accompanying games in advance, North American customers can visit both GameStop and Electronics Boutique in person or via the web. N-Gage game cards (MultiMedia Cards) are expected to be priced from $30 to $40 depending on the game.

Other mass-market retailers are expected to begin taking preorders for the Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck in the months to come.

Built for hard-core and active gamers, the Nokia N-Gage game deck allows for online, mobile, multiplayer game play with some of today's hottest titles including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Lara Croft, Tomb Raider and Red Faction. It features a high-quality, 3D color graphics with backlight, and eight-way directional controller (aka the "Rocker") and an ergonomic design optimized for mobile game play. In addition to its cutting- edge game-playing capabilities, the Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck also features a digital music player (MP3/AAC), stereo FM radio, as well as a tri- band GSM 900/1800/1900 mobile phone."
