The global wireless market is preparing itself for a new phase of growth, according to a new report released by The Research Room. With the recent confusion and disappointment in most things wireless, the opportunities for companies to make profits are returning - with user spend set to pick up both in the business and consumer segments.
"With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies becoming embedded in many new PCs and devices, and the mobile and wireless network operators actually beginning to focus on what's happening today and tomorrow - not five years down the track, the opportunities for growth have rarely been so good," says Tim Sheedy, Managing Director of The Research Room. "Previous rumours of new sources of wireless growth have generally been based on nothing but hype and hot air - but with the new-found focus on delivering what the consumer actually wants, the future is looking good for a whole range of wireless and mobile product, service and solution providers."
The report concludes that the top five opportunities for the existing providers of mobile and wireless solutions are mobile gaming software - games, Java/BREW-based applications, Wireless LAN solutions providers, mobile operator services and MMS content providers.
There is still much room for growth in the wireless market - and there will continue to be many niche markets that grow wildly and more mainstream markets than disappoint. But based on today's market conditions and those forecast for the future, these markets are the ones that are most likely to bear fruit - and give a good return on investment for many companies in the market."
