Siemens IC Mobile says that it is to work with Tecnomen to ensure interoperability of Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) in future Siemens mobile phones and the Tecnomen MMSC. The Tecnomen MMSC shall act as a 'reference' MMSC for Siemens' multimedia handset interoperability testing. Siemens will use Tecnomen's MMSC within its development environment to assist in MMS terminal development. Such cooperation enables both companies to enhance and test the MMS capabilities of each other, in a risk free development environment and prior to commercial release.
"Our very productive and close working relationship with Siemens is an extension of a bilateral agreement and is based on constant feedback and reporting", said Kai Kauto, Vice President, Messaging Solutions, Tecnomen. "Our solutions are all based on the open industry standards that are defining the shape of the MMS market, and this collaboration illustrates the capabilities and commitment of both Siemens and Tecnomen to interoperability."
Tecnomen has interoperability testing agreements also with other handset manufacturers. Testing is conducted within the MMS Interoperability Group (MMS IOP), which aims to define and promote end-to-end operability and interoperability of MMS as defined and approved by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) to which Tecnomen also belongs.
