WAP Games are Taking off

Digital Bridges say that it has recorded over 10 million WAP user sessions in the past 18 months on its WAP games. Mobile phone gamers have played Digital Bridges' WAP games - both in colour and black & white - for approx. 71.4 million minutes in this period, which add up to 136 years of accumulated game play.

"Although we provide a vast array of mobile entertainment solutions across a number of technologies, WAP gaming is one of Digital Bridges' core competencies as it is what the company initially started out with," said Brian Greasley, Chief Executive Officer at Digital Bridges. "We've built a broad portfolio of WAP games, both branded and unbranded and are proud of the success of our titles." Digital Bridges' most successful unbranded WAP games include Wireless Pets, a tamagotchi-style game that allows gamers to feed, play and care for their chosen virtual pet through their mobile phone, as well as Steve Jackson's Sorcery!, an adventure role-playing game based on the award-winning interactive gamebook series.

More recently, Digital Bridges has developed and published a number of highly successful WAP games based on globally recognised licenses such as Star Trek: First Duty and EA SPORTS 2002 FIFA World Cup. Digital Bridges considers branded content a key factor in the development of current and future mobile entertainment offerings, as it will provide a drastic shortcut to building consumer awareness.

Digital Bridges has seen a steady uptake in WAP game play over the past two years. "During the first six months of 2002 alone Digital Bridges has recorded close to 4 million WAP games played," states Mr. Greasley. "We expect this number to grow significantly in the second half of 2002 and into 2003 as new killer content is being developed and WAP eventually will reinvent itself to be less technology driven and more user friendly."'"
