Sony Ericsson Move East

Sony Ericsson says that it has received approvals from the Chinese Government to start its operations in China. Sony Ericsson is also starting a new centre in Beijing for research and development.

To mark the start of Sony Ericsson's full-scale operations in the Chinese market, Sony Ericsson China will begins shipping the T68ie and T202 mobile phones. The company is also unveiling a full product portfolio for the Chinese market, including the T602, T302 and P802 to be launched later this year. The headquarters for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications (China) is in Beijing and the President of the company is Roger Eriksson.

"With Sony Ericsson's attractive product portfolio, our focus on imaging, entertainment and connectivity applications, and our drive to provide stimulating content for the Chinese consumers, we are well posed for the Chinese market," says Roger Eriksson. "In addition, with this local approach of our newly established R&D Centre, we can achieve a product line that takes into account all aspects of Chinese consumers' phone usage", says Mr Eriksson.'"
