Vodafone Malta Hits 12 Years of Age

Vodafone Malta has celebrated its 12th birthday, with the announcement of its 200th roaming agreement, with Nextel Peru. Vodafone Malta, the first Vodafone Group company outside of the UK, began operating in July 1990. The company now has a client base well over 150,000.

"Vodafone Malta's success has not been due solely to our commitment to remaining at forefront in implementing the latest technology in mobile telecommunications. Vodafone Malta has an excellent group of employees who work hard, as a team, to ensure that we deliver the best possible service to our customers. It is this, more than any other factor, that is the main reason behind Vodafone's position as the leading network in Malta," said Mr Joseph C. Grioli, Managing Director at Vodafone Malta, during the party which was held at the Le Meridien Phoenicia.

Over the years Vodafone Malta was the first to launch a GSM network in Malta, in March 1997. Vodafone Malta was also the first mobile telecommunications company in Malta to introduce text messaging, WAP and GPRS. The latest development in this line of technological advances was the recent introduction of FLEXI-SIM, which amongst other benefits, gives Vodafone's etalk customers the possibility of topping up their account directly from their mobile phone.'"
