Interconnection of Photo Messaging Comes to Japan

Japan's KDDI has deployed "Team Factory" powered by LightSurf eSwitch to enable photos taken on KKDI handsets to be sent to handsets on other cell phone networks, including i-mode and J-sky. With the integration of LightSurf's eSwitch into Team Factory, users are guaranteed a seamless picture sharing experience on any of the nearly 200 handsets on the market in Japan.

Registered Team Factory users can wirelessly upload pictures captured by AU's camera phone, J-Phone's Sha-mail phone or by a mini digital clip-on camera such as AU's PashaPa, add a short text message and share the picture message instantly with any user or group of users on EZweb, i-mode and J-sky.

The LightSurf eSwitch Instant Imaging Server Appliance dynamically converts Web content, including images, in real time to ordinary GIF/ non-compression GIF/ PNG/ BMP/ JPEG format, optimizing delivery to mobile devices, phones, and handheld computers. In the US, SprintPCS will launch a LightSurf-powered service to its mobile customers later this year, allowing them to capture, view and send pictures with their wireless devices to other cell phone owners on any network.'"
