Cingular Continues to Improve its Network

The USA's Cingular Wireless has said that it will invest more than US$500 million in improvements and upgrades to its wireless networks in the Southeast of the country, which includes North Carolina and South Carolina (as well as Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee), in 2002. This initiative is part of the company's nationwide, US$5.8 billion capital expenditure for 2002.

As part of the company's commitment to the Carolinas, Cingular recently enhanced its coverage and capacity in Northeast Columbia, Hartsville, Summerville and Folly Beach, S.C. Additional areas scheduled for coverage enhancements this year include Charleston (Monks Corner to St. Stephens); Southeast Florence (Dillon to Nichols on Hwy 9); and Hwy 701 between Conway and Georgetown, S.C.

"Cingular's investment strategy in its networks bears witness to the depth and extent of Cingular's commitment to deliver the highest call quality and service to our Carolina customers," said Kristi Turner, general manager, Cingular Wireless - South Carolina. "Cingular has built its reputation in the Carolinas by providing outstanding network quality and superior customer service, and we will continue to invest in these networks to ensure our customers' continued satisfaction."'"
