Thai Networks Solve Argument

The Telephone Organisation of Thailand has said that it has resolved its argument with the local GSM network, DTAC with DTAC agreeing to pay both the disputed access fees and late payment fines. "DTAC executives have agreed to abide by all the terms stipulated in the original concession contract," said Sutham Malila, the TOT president.

DTAC has been refusing to pay a monthly access charge to the TOT, claiming that the charge was illegal as it was not applied to all networks equally. AIS, which is linked to Thailand's Prime Minister does not pay the monthly access charge, although it does pay a higher revenue share percentage. The TOT had threatened to disconnect DTAC from the landline network, although that threat was lifted after DTAC deposited a cheque for the outstanding invoices with the Administration Court. DTAC has been running television adverts promoting its position in the dispute.'"
