The T61g is one of the first phones to operate on both GSM850 and GSM1900. The 850 MHz frequency takes advantage of existing networks being transitioned from TDMA to GSM technology. The T61g also helps operators manage transition capacity with its inclusion of Adaptive Multi Rate (AMR) technology.
The T61g features e-mail as well as two-way text and enhanced messaging services (EMS) and mobile chat, along with GPRS. The five-way joystick and large display makes it easy to use the T61g advanced features. With its built-in organizer, consumers can easily synchronize their calendar and contact listing and create reminders and to-do lists.
The T61g is small in size and weight at 121 x 54 x 23mm and 125 grams. The phone features a strong comfortable design with a built-in long-life lithium battery and an internal antenna that allows users up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 10 days of standby time.
Innovative accessories for the T61g include the Sony Ericsson CommuniCam(tm) TM MCA-10, which allows users to shoot and send digital pictures, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, including the Bluetooth wireless headset and Sony Ericsson SmartBack(tm) accessories. Sony Ericsson SmartBack accessories fully integrate into the back of the phone and house accessories such as a retractable portable handsfree.
The T61g is scheduled for commercial launch in Q2 2002."
