A customer dropped an innocuous comment onto the Facebook page operated by Samsung Lebanon asking about a release date for the Galaxy S4 smartphone, and got the unexpected reply confirming a release date of "not before May 2013".
That could be limited to just the release date in Lebanon though.
The comment did also inadvertently confirm that the company is launching a Galaxy S4 model, which, although widely expected is still not officially confirmed by the company.
The company swiftly tried to play down the mistake saying that the Samsung employee's comment was "trivial since all Galaxy S series are released between late April and Early May, yet there's no way for anyone to know the exact release date."
The Facebook post has been since removed.
