Etisalat Nigeria Plans $400 Million Network Investment in 2013

Etisalat Nigeria's CEO, Mr. Steve Evans told The Guardian that the company was targeting expanding its services in yet to be served areas of the country.

With about 3,500 base stations across the country, it has set a target of 20 million active subscribers by the end of next year.

However, he reiterated complaints the industry has made about poor power supplies to base stations and regulatory interference by local government.

He said that powering base stations with off-grid supplies in an environment such as Nigeria cost about 15 to 20 percent more than in a country where there was stable power supply from the electricity grid.
