NetOne Orders $200 Million of Huawei Base Stations

According to the report in the state-owned newspaper, The Sunday Mail, the equipment will enable NetOne to upgrade old equipment as well as roll out new sites.

The report also said that the equipment would be supplied ready to add LTE coverage at a later date.

The last network upgrade that we are aware of was in 2010, when the company secured a US$45 million loan from a Chinese bank to fund equipment purchases.

The mobile network is owned by the state, which talked about a sale of the company last year, but nothing seems to have happened during 2012 to further that.
