Masanobu Tsunoda, the managing director of Nikon Malaysia and Singapore, told the Bernama news agency that the company had been discussing the matter over the last 10 years and found that mobile phones actually helped to increase the company's business.
He said that future customers frustrations with the slow shutter speed and poorer image quality would migrate to dedicated cameras as they became more interested in photography.
"As long as everyone is enjoying taking pictures from their mobile phones, they (mobile phones) will help develop the photography culture and we believe that mobile phones are our friends," he told Bernama.
