CBI to Probe Apparent Suicide in Indian Telecoms Scandal

The aide, Sadhick Batcha, was found hanging at his home last month in Chennai, his family said, although the police are still investigating the situation around his death.

Although a suicide note was found in the room, the police are still investigating the death and have not ruled out murder. The CBI is now taking over the investigation.

Sadhick Batcha was quizzed by the CBI as part of the telecoms scandal investigation that has rocked the industry, and there were suspicions that he acted as a frontman for bribes paid to A Raja to speed up the awards of the GSM licenses in 2008.

Although he denied the claims, he was questioned four times by the CBI investigators before his sudden death.
