Cellcom in Talks with Bezeq to Link Cellular Sites

Israeli mobile network operator, Cellcom is reported to be in talks with Bezeq to buy some of its towers pending the termination of a tower sharing agreement in 2010.

The local Globes newspaper reports that Cellcom's 400 cellular sites are linked by Bezeq's infrastructure because of the difficulty in reaching some of the sites and the lack of a sufficient fiber optic infrastructure. The negotiations apparently related to 200 sites that Cellcom has trouble reaching independently.

The company has been moving towards its own infrastructure for its backhaul and air interfaces, but is having difficulties in covering some areas.
