Vodafone Moving Key Group Management to New London Office

Vodafone is moving its financial headquarters from the office complex at its traditional home in Newbury to a new development in London. The move will affect around 200 staff, including senior management who will now operate from the city. Vodafone Group said the move will help its management be closer to the company's business partners and stakeholders.

The Newbury campus will still have over 3,000 staff and will remain the head office for Vodafone's UK division. Around 900 staff who work on the global operations will also remain in Newbury.

Matthew Brearley, director of human resources, told the BBC that Vodafone was "absolutely committed" to Newbury.

He said: "The reason we are moving those people is for the executive committee to be close to the investors, to be close to their strategic partners who are typically based out of London, that's the key for them to have very close access to those people.

"When 200 people move out to the site in Paddington, 200 people will move in, because we will make sure this site is fully occupied. It's a key centre for us.

Vodafone has been based in Newbury ever since its foundation as Racal Electronics in 1984. The company moved into a purpose built campus just outside the town center in 2003.
