SpinVox has announced that its speech-to-text conversion service is being deployed as a network service through an additional 12 countries in Telefónica's mobile operations across Latin America. Spinvox service will be available to all Telefónica's mobile customers in the region.
Argentina; Colombia; Ecuador; El Salvador; Guatemala; Mexico; Nicaragua; Panama; Peru; Uruguay and Venezuela will offer the service as will Vivo, Telefónica's joint venture with Portugal Telecom in Brazil. SpinVox has also configured its Voice Message Conversion System to convert the local variants of Spanish and Portuguese spoken in each country in Latin America.
The agreement builds on the October 2008 announcement from SpinVox and Telefónica's Movistar Chile of the launch of the first speech-to-text service in Latin America.
SpinVox co-founder and CEO, Christina Domecq describes the contract as a landmark deal. "This has already established the company as the market leader on five continents, creating a new category that enables Carriers to turn everyday speech into billable revenue to deliver an immediate and positive ARPU impact," she adds.
