Internet security firm, F-Secure, has announced the upcoming release of an enhanced version of its Mobile Security software that includes advanced anti-theft functionality. The latest version of F-Secure Mobile Security will be available next week for Windows Mobile phone users.
The anti-theft feature includes remote lock, remote wipe and theft control functionalities. Using remote lock, a user can lock the device and protect confidential information quickly and easily by sending a single SMS message. A change of SIM cards activates the theft control feature, which locks the device. As an ultimate safety measure to prevent misuse, remote wipe erases all of the data on the phone when its user sends an SMS message to the device.
Samu Konttinen, Vice President of F-Secure's Mobile Solutions Business Unit, says, "Losing personal and confidential data on a smartphone is a security issue for the phone's owner. By adding the anti-theft feature to F-Secure Mobile Security for Windows Mobile users, we wanted to provide an easy and fast way to remote lock and wipe a phone in case it is lost or stolen. Anti-theft for Windows Mobile is a natural addition to our Mobile Security solution, which is already known for its award-winning anti-virus and firewall features."
