New Boss for Qualcomm Korea

Qualcomm has named Dr. Young Koo Cha as the new senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of the company's Korean division. Dr. Cha replaces Dr. Sung Woo Kim who is retiring from Qualcomm in his position as senior vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm Korea.

"I am pleased to welcome Dr. Cha who brings a wealth of experience in the high-tech industry, academia and the Korean government," said Jing Wang, executive vice president of Qualcomm Asia Pacific & Middle East and Africa. "Korea holds a special place in Qualcomm history, and our appointment of Dr. Cha reflects the importance of Korea to the Company. Korea was one of the first countries to adopt Qualcomm's CDMA technology, and Qualcomm's strong relationships with our customers, suppliers and carriers, as well as the Korean government, have helped fuel the growth of the wireless industry throughout the world."

"I thank Dr. Kim for more than 10 years of dedication and contributions to our business successes in Korea," Wang said. "Under his leadership and work with Qualcomm's business partners in Korea, the Korean market has developed into one of the strongest CDMA markets globally. We wish Dr. Kim the very best as he enjoys his new phase in life."

Dr. Cha will work with Jim Doh, senior vice president and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Korea/Taiwan/Japan.
