First MVNO for Croatia

"I'm optimistic because the MVNO entry to the Croatian telecommunication market is the beginning his full liberalization as a goal of emphasizing the market regulator and the government," said Profaca.

The company says that it has secured funding from twenty investors - of which the bulk are Croatian and the remainder based in the USA.

Commenting on market expectations, Profaca noted that an MVNO can be profitable with just a few tens of thousands of subscribers, compared to the millions needed by the network operators. He also suggested that despite the market being saturated, thanks to multiple SIM ownership - the real penetration rate could be as low as 60%.

The Mobile World subscriber tracker confirms that the country ended the first half of this year with just under 5.4 million mobile phone accounts - representing a population penetration level of 120%.
