Ireland based Tango Telecom and local Partner Lintas Teknologi have announced the successful deployment and launch of two new SMSCs for Bakrie Telekom in Indonesia. The deployments at Surabaya and Medan provide geographic redundancy and a significant boost to the capacity for the Bakrie SMS operations.
This latest deployment follows a record month or SMS traffic in Indonesia, where the Tango SMSC handled 1.3 billion SMS in Oct 2008 for Bakrie alone.
Tango initially deployed the first CDMA SMSC site in Jakarta for Bakrie in late 2007. This deployment included delivery of on-net and all off net traffic, as well as interworking and transcoding across both GSM and CDMA network. Bakrie further commissioned Tango Telecom to expand the Jakarta SMSC in early 2008 and ordered the 2 new SMSC at the end of July.
Mr. Radhakant Das, General Manager Core & VAS Engineering for Bakrie, confirmed "Thanks to the iAX SMS carrier grade platform from Tango, we have been able to grow with our customers and offer reliable delivery and performance. Tango has been quite open and flexible w.r.to integration of new features and functionality along with other elements. Addition of these geographically decentralized nodes at Surabaya and Medan, quality and availability of SMS services will increase to good extent giving Bakrie a competitive edge in the market."
