Telecoms Company Marks Ten Years in Uganda

APA-Kampala (Uganda) Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), which operates in 21 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, on Wednesday, marked ten years of operation in Uganda.

Nikolaus Eberl, a respected speaker and author of two best selling books on branding, attended an executive breakfast hosted by MTN to which key partners and stakeholders in the business and government sectors were invited.

MTN chief executive officer Noel Meier said his companyÃ's model of making services accessible and affordable to everyone everywhere in the country endeared the brand to the people.

Other activities to mark the decade of operation include a week-long activity aimed at giving its customers a true customer centric experience and an SMS competition through which clients will win fabulous prizes, said Sheila Kangwagye from the marketing department.

Launched in 1994, the MTN is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and has more 44 million subscribers across.

MTN also operates in Botswana, Cameroon, Cote dÃ'Ivoire, Nigeria, Congo (Brazzaville), Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia.
