T-Mobile says that it has sold 120,000 3G iPhones since its launch in the three countries where T-Mobile has reseller rights. In an interview with the German language Focus magazine, T-Mobile International CEO Hamid Akhavan said that sales had exceeded expectations with many stores selling out of their stock within hours of launching the handset.
The company says that it sold some 75,000 handsets in Germany, with 45,000 split between The Netherlands and Austria.
Akhavan said that he expects supply shortages to be solved within a couple of weeks.
Commenting on the complaints of handset software bugs leading to dropped calls, he confirmed that they had some complaints, but only from The Netherlands and not from their other markets - suggesting a supply batch problem rather than an endemic failure in the handset OS.
