Sony Ericsson Including Panorama Stitching Software in Camera Phone

Sony Ericsson is to include a panorama stitching software program in its 5 megapixel camera phone, the SO905iCS - which is being sold in Japan. The software enables users to take several photos of a wide scene by panning the camera from one side to the other - then "stitch" them into a single wide panorama photo.

The SO905iCS was recently launched on the Japanese market and is the first commercial phone to include the unique AutoRama function which has been supplied by Swedish graphics software developer, Scalado.

Users can choose from 2 modes; a 4-stitch panorama or a 360º panorama encompassing 10 photos. AutoRama is fully automatic and sews continuous images together in order to create a single, specialized photograph.

"The collaboration with Sony Ericsson's engineering team in Japan is very important for Scalado. We know that the Japanese market is the toughest market on mobile phone requirements. Phones are absolutely packed with the latest top quality features, so we are very proud to be selected as a supplier to contribute our unique imaging software." says Mats Jacobson, CEO, Scalado.
