Walt Disney Expands European Mobile Content Distribution

Mobile content distributor, FoneStarz has announced that it has secured the rights to Walt Disney content. This is in line with Walt Disney Internet Group's expansion of its mobile content business across the EMEA region. Wallpapers, themes, video clips and ringtones available for download will feature Disney's latest releases, such as box office hit "Enchanted" and teen phenomenon "High School Musical 2," along with classic Disney characters such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.

Effective immediately, FoneStarz will host and manage hundreds of pieces of Disney content on its operator portal decks, allowing subscribers across the EMEA region to personalise their handsets. FoneStarz manages a number of operator channels, including Vodafone in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, O2 in Ireland and the Samsung Fun Club in the UK.

Sunil Gunderia, VP Mobile, Walt Disney Internet Group, EMEA commented "Disney Mobile Studios is one of the leading providers of mobile content globally and the strategic growth of our mobile content business is a priority. This agreement sees Disney's popular stories and characters become available to even more consumers around the world and is in line with The Walt Disney Company's focus on leveraging technologies to create and deliver unparalleled entertainment content to consumers."

Dave Moreau, Chief Executive Officer, FoneStarz Media, said, "FoneStarz is the established leader in managing on-portal imagery and video services. Over six years we have developed both our in-house content management system Daius and our global footprint, so it makes sense for Disney to choose us as an international partner."

"We're delighted to be working with one of the world's top media brands, which provides such a great range of mobile products. Disney has already proved to be a proactive partner that understands the market and the two companies are working well together to drive revenue from Disney's digital content".
