EastWind, a Russian software developer and part of SITRONICS Telecom Solutions business division has been selected to deliver a complex of systems for Tajiktelecom, a national Tajikistani mobile operator. Under the contract, the following solutions will be implemented in the operator's CDMA network: EastWind Billing System, EastWind Contact Center, EastWind SMS GateWay, voicemail system EastWind DigiTel, and missed call notification system EastWind Call Register.
Tajiktelecom Mobile (CDMA2001X) was launched into commercial operation in February 2006. The coverage area currently includes the state's capital of Dushanbe and other big cities.
Tajiktelecom Mobile is estimated to have ended last September with some 116,000 subscribers according to figures from the Mobile World subscriber database. The country has a total base of around 1.6 million subscribers - representing a population penetration level of 21%.
