Argentine mobile operator CTI Movil has launched 3G services in greater Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba, the company said in a statement.
The company expects to go on to launch 3G in cities along the Atlantic coast next month, starting with the city of Mar del Plata, in Buenos Aires province.
Then in the first quarter of 2008 the 3G operating area is scheduled to expand to the cities of Mendoza, Santa Fe, Tucuman, Corrientes, Resistencia, Salta, Bahia Blanca, Neuquen and Comodoro Rivadavia.
In Uruguay, the operator will also provide coverage in Colonia and Punta del Este, while in Paraguay 3G coverage will be available in the cities of Ciudad del Este and Encarnacion.
CTI Movil is a unit of Mexican mobile group America Movil, and by launching 3G is following in the footsteps of Personal, owned by Telecom Argentina and Movistar, the local unit of Spain's Telefonica, which launched 3G services earlier this year.
Personal has 3G coverage in capital Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba, while Movistar has coverage in limited areas of Buenos Aires.
