Peru's telecoms watchdog Osiptel has published proposed changes to the way it measures the quality of mobile services in the country, the regulator said in a statement.
Osiptel proposes to measure dropped calls and uncompleted calls by taking measurements at base stations every hour.
The regulator also will measure the time it takes a call to be connected, the speed a SMS takes to reach its destination, as well as the minimum accepted level of reception a customer should experience within a concession area.
Operators failing to meet these requirements could face sanctions.
A 30-day public consultation period will be held during which comments on the proposed modifications can be sent to Osiptel.
